About the Respiratory
Short-Term Training
No cost to trainees. Earn while you learn.
Get the skills you need to begin a rewarding career in a growing healthcare field. Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), SMCC’s Respiratory Therapy Program will teach you the theory and techniques of respiratory care while allowing you to have hands-on experience through clinical application courses. Students will have also the ability to earn while they learn through an apprenticeship with a local healthcare facility.

Students who successfully complete the training will get hands-on training in the respiratory therapy field and be aligned to enter the workforce, or they can continue their education to earn an Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy and more.

Prerequisites
To qualify for this training you must meet the following prerequisites:
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma, GED, or HiSet
- Resident of Maine
- Proof of authorization to work in the U.S.
- Math 140 College Algebra or equivalent
- BIOL 132 A&P 1 or equivalent
- BIOL 138 A&P II or equivalent
